TACTILE

Over the past year, RAT has been developing a ceramic sculpture series stemming from a process of isolation. By deconstructing single object qualities, such as texture, color, and shape, the works rethink the ceramic medium as a unique audiovisual, physical, and emotional experience, investigating how a surface can be inhabited. The creative trajectory began with natural, artistic and architectural references, traversing both vernacular structures and iconic masterpieces of design. These foundations were then metabolized through landscapes, memories, and emotions, ultimately distilling them into objects. The outcome is a constellation of four distinct series bound together by a fil rouge of shared materiality and a cohesive color scheme.
